About us.
Mission Statement
Five Valleys Advanced Practice Providers is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit dedicated to fostering collaboration, advocacy, and education for nurse practitioners and physician assistants across western Montana. Our members—representing diverse specialties and healthcare settings throughout the Five Valleys region—come together to share knowledge, build professional networks, and strengthen communication across institutions. By connecting providers, we support one another in delivering high-quality patient care, staying informed on critical issues facing our professions, and amplifying our collective voice to advance healthcare in our communities.
Collaborate
We meet monthly to bring providers together, welcoming both new and experienced practitioners. These gatherings create opportunities to connect, share ideas, and build relationships that strengthen individual practices and the wider healthcare community.
Advocate
We provide a unified voice for nurse practitioners and physician assistants, addressing the challenges facing our professions and promoting policies that support quality patient care. Through collective action, we work to advance healthcare across western Montana.
Educate
We create opportunities for ongoing learning by sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise across specialties. Our members stay current on important issues and strengthen their skills to better serve patients and the community.

Sarah Swanson, Commissioner, MT Department of Labor and Industry has issued the following:
During the 2025 Legislative Session, the Montana Legislature passed House Bill (HB) 41, a bill that adds the drug gabapentin to the list of Schedule V controlled substances in Montana, effective October 1, 2025.
As a prescriber, pharmacist, pharmacy, or other facility, you have a license that may be impacted by this change.

RSVP for our November meeting is now open! Please join us for a dinner presentation on Zepbound by Eli Lilly at FINN restaurant in Missoula. Bring questions and an appetite!
Due to FDA restrictions on the product being presented, this event is being offered only to those providers licensed to care for adults. Unfortunately, pediatric-only providers are not able to attend.
Please note that RSVP for this event is required in order to plan for adequate seating and food. Hope to see you there!

It's almost time for our annual membership social! Please join us Tuesday, January 27, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Great Burn Brewing for a casual evening of sharing, introductions, and catching up! This is our annual membership drive and gives us a chance to collect funds for our organization, ensuring another year of successful collaboration, advocacy, and education for advanced practice providers in the Five Valleys area.
Know a nurse practitioner or physician assistant who is not a member? Spread the word and bring a friend! We'll be excited to see you there!

Thanks to all who attended our Independent Practice Panel this week! And an extra big thank you to our presenting providers as they shared their thoughts on both the benefits and challenges of operating an independent practice. We had a couple of virtual attendees this time so please remember that if you can't make it in person, you can always log in via Zoom to take part!
